About the Artist
Hi, I’m Taylor! Thank you for visiting my site! I am an oil painter and Family Medicine MD in training (currently in my second year of residency). I am originally from Colorado, and now based in Utah.
Being an artist has been a central part of my identity for as long as I can remember. I spent my childhood and adolescence experimenting with many mediums, including chalk and oil pastel, charcoal, graphite, watercolor, acrylic, and more.
In college at the University of Colorado, I studied pre-med and completed a minor in Studio Art. This is when I worked with oil paints for the first time, and I immediately fell in love with the rich pigments and textures. I started painting in oils more and more frequently, and now I work almost exclusively with oil paints.
Over time, my preferred subject matter shifted toward western landscapes and wildlife, particularly Colorado’s Rocky Mountains. I have a deep love for the mountains that sometimes feels like an aching sense of longing to be among the soaring peaks, rustling aspens, and fields of vibrant wildflowers. I crave the sense of peace, wonder, and freedom that the mountains provide. The relentless chaos of the modern world seems to fade away, and I am left feeling more present and more alive than I do anywhere else. This is what I try to capture in my paintings.
As I have progressed through medical training, my inspiration to paint has grown with every step. Being an artist gives my life balance and meaning, and now that I am in residency, my motivation to create art has never been stronger. I love creating large studio projects, as well as painting “en plein air”, where I hike to beautiful locations with my supplies to paint from life. I pour my heart into every painting, and I hope that passion translates to the canvas.
